Origin Quarries completed its purchase of the Central Group’s quarry assets on the 5th April 2011. Origin is a specialist quarry management company working with resource owners and customers to deliver in spec products at affordable prices.
Central Soil Supplies was established in 1987 when the opportunity for the sales of processed soils from new residential and industrial development sites as well as new infrastructure sites, was developed.
Purchases of existing soils businesses followed in the 1990’s. In 2011 Central Soils is well established as the Number 1 supplier of processed soils in the Auckland market.
Central Landscape Supplies had its first operation established in Great South Road, Penrose in 1993 which was closely followed by a site in Glenfield. The Swanson site was the next to open up and was quickly followed by Pikes Point, East Tamaki, Avondale, Devonport, and Papakura. Constellation Drive was opened in 2004, Henderson in 2005, followed by Stoneyridge, Waiheke Island and Hamilton coming on board in 2006. In 2009 the East Tamaki site moved to the former Stevensons site on Harris Road East Tamaki, as did Papakura where it also moved to a former Stevenson's site, in Drury.
With this number of outlets the Central Landscape and Garden Supplies Group is the largest seller of landscape and garden supplies in the Auckland region. See www.centrallandscapes.co.nz.
The Central Group made its first move into quarries by purchasing the QueCee Quarry (near Whatawhata) from Holcim in 2004. Following that purchase through to 2007 there have been 4 further quarries added to the Central Group and Stoneyridge Quarry, Waiheke Island were added in 2005; Pukemiro Quarry near Waingaro in 2006; Rainbow Mountain Quarry, near Rotorua in 2007.
The sub-licence and quarry operations for the Rainbow Mountain Quarry and the quarry operations at Mountfield Quarry are now under the instructions of our partners, McRobbie Dowling Ltd.
In March 2009 Asset Allocation Equities Ltd purchased a 100% shareholding of the Central Group of Companies to become the owner and shareholder. Asset Allocation Equities Ltd is a subsidiary company of the Goodfellow family's business interests. With this change in ownership a new Board of Directors was established. The Board is being led by the Chairman, Chris Aiken, and includes the shareholder representative Gerard van Tilborg (Easy Factors International) with Bruce Cameron as an Independent Director.
